The New Horizons Church Board would like permission to remove a detached, ‘relocatable’ portable from site. This building is at the rear of the heritage brick building (built in 1884) and church office (constructed in 2009/10). The Relocatable is over 55 years old and has been deemed an OHS risk due to its deterioration and failure to meet current building standards. The relocatable is a free-standing facility made of cement sheet boards with a tray deck metal roof and currently sits on concrete blocks (this building does not have stumps or embedded foundations). Our proposal is to have this building removed from site in 5 sections (which is how it apparently arrived initially) or demolished. According to our lease arrangement with the Depart. of Energy Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), New Horizons Church is responsible to pay all ongoing property costs (e.g rates, water, electricity, insurance…) including maintenance repairs as if the property was our own. Our contract also states that we may retain all property improvements. As such, although New Horizons Church leases the land and ‘heritage hall’, the church retains ownership of the Church office (which is to remain) and relocatable portable in question.
