Glen Eira submits response to Activity Centres Program Stage 2

Glen Eira City Council has submitted its response to the Victorian Government's Activity Centres Program Stage 2, which proposes planning control changes across five key commercial areas.

The program targets activity centres in Caulfield, Glen Huntly, Ormond, Bentleigh and Elsternwick. Stage 2 Phase 2 of the state government initiative aims to modify existing planning controls to support increased development around these established commercial hubs.

Council's submission follows community consultation and internal assessment of the proposed changes. The Activity Centres Program forms part of the state government's broader planning reform agenda, designed to concentrate development around transport nodes and established retail precincts.

For developers, these proposed planning control changes could affect development rights, height limits, and approval processes in the nominated activity centres. The outcome of the government's review of submissions will determine what modifications proceed and their implementation timeline.

The Victorian Government will now consider all submissions before finalising any planning control amendments. Developers with interests in these five activity centres should monitor the program's progress for potential changes to development parameters.
